Well, here I am again without a secretary. The last one should have been fired on her second day but desperation led us to keep her long enough to make a real hash of things. The only point in her favor was that she is a knitter and brought me all kinds of knitting and yarn publications. Not enough to make up for her quirky habit if not doing her work and putting us in daily peril of malpractice. Hey, I was the one who said fire her. Anyway, I am doing both sleeves of the Sprite’s sweater and am half way finished. For the first time in a long time, this is the only project I have going so I am starting to plan a new one. Neon Moon said something about wanting a cardigan so we will have to chat. She will be home on Tuesday [yay!!!] so we will have a chance to do just that. As the only woolen offerings that Mona Lisa will accept are socks, I may have to get cracking on more of those too.

My plan had been to get up at 4:00 am to watch the Leonids and so to be at least theoretically close to Neon Moon who, on this her 18th birthday, would be watching them in Northampton. The theory was sort of a triangle effect. Although I slept through the alarm, I still feel close. Happy Birthday, sweetie!

Happy Birthday, Howard Dean!

Driving in to work this morning, NPR reported that only 4 % of Brits consider Bush a major world leader. I can understand this for many reasons, only the most recent of which being that security at his visit is requiring the Queen to wear a nametag. “Hello! Our name is Her Royal Majesty Elizabeth Alexandra Mary!”
