I do not know Arthur C. Helton but I am saddened by his death. I don’t know if he liked ice cream or jazz or the color blue. I first learned of his work while reading the New York Law Journal this morning. He was killed in the bombing of the UN Headquarters in Baghdad where he was working assessing humanitarian conditions. People such as Mr. Helton, who devote their lives to trying to improve the quality of life for the downtrodden are to be cherished. People love to hate lawyers but did you ever notice the good things they do? Not always on this scale, mind you, but in our community, there are countless lawyers who sit on school boards and boards of not-for-profits, who are literacy volunteers and do other good works. I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. Makes you think.
