Friday, August 22, 2003 What with one thing and another, sleep has been elusive lately. Last night was cooler but I now know what it feels like to be lettuce. There I was, minding my own business, dozing. A loud noise, a flash of light and a fine mist began to settle over me in a gentle spray. Too late to close the window. At least it kept me crispy.posted by Andrea at 1:00 PM Thursday, August 21, 2003 It used to be said that you could pick the lawyers out of a crowd of women just by looking at their feet--the lawyers always had the frumpiest shoes. Sitting in court this morning, waiting for my motion to be called, I had an opportunity to update the research. Sad to report, it’s still true. Of course, there may be those who think that I go too far in the opposite direction, those who wouldn’t think of wearing open toed, red shoes to court. Hmm, too bad for them.posted by Andrea at 1:37 PM Wednesday, August 20, 2003 I had set two goals for myself to accomplish before Neon Moon heads off to Smith— to read Atonement and to finish the sweater I have been making for her. I finished and highly recommend Atonement and I have only to finish sewing the last sleeve and weaving in the ends to be finished with the sweater. I have, however, found myself somewhat resisting the end of this project as it inevitably means that her departure is immanent. No, I do not really believe that she would say, “No sweater?! Well, that does it! I refuse to go to college!” But there is a measure of Penelope about it in my mind.posted by Andrea at 4:42 PM ;id=345;action=next">Next ![]() ![]() |
