We attended the Pirate Festival on Saturday. This was my first experience with this event and it was great—plenty of pirates and wenches and “arr”ing and swashes being buckled left and right. Hokey but fun. The location is one of my favorite spots on earth—Olcott Beach. I am also impressed that this sleepy beach community that has seen more prosperous days has created an event that brings many people together and has attained the level of a summer institution. Were there ever pirates on Lake Ontario? If there were, did any of them look like "Orlando Bloom? Dunno but there are now. Kudos to the town for having a good idea, acting on it and letting us all in on the fun!
